Quality Engineer – Silicon

JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Quality Control and Assurance:

Develop and implement quality control procedures and inspection protocols for silicon manufacturing processes.
Conduct regular quality audits and inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
Identify non-conformities, deviations, and areas for improvement, and initiate corrective and preventive actions.

Process Improvement and Optimization:

Collaborate with production and engineering teams to optimize manufacturing processes and enhance product quality.
Lead or participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities to address quality issues and improve process efficiency.
Implement statistical process control (SPC) and other quality improvement tools to monitor and analyze production data.

Product and Process Validation:

Support the validation of new silicon manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials to ensure product reliability and consistency.
Conduct qualification and validation tests to verify product performance and conformance to specifications.
Document and communicate validation results and make recommendations for process adjustments as needed.

Supplier Quality Management:

Collaborate with suppliers to establish quality requirements, conduct supplier audits, and address quality issues related to incoming materials and components.
Monitor supplier performance and work with vendors to improve quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness.

Quality Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of quality inspections, tests, and audits, and ensure compliance with documentation requirements.
Prepare quality reports, trend analyses, and performance metrics to track quality KPIs and communicate results to relevant stakeholders.
Support quality management system documentation and continuous improvement efforts.

Training and Compliance:

Provide training and guidance to production and quality control personnel on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
Ensure compliance with relevant quality management standards, such as ISO 9001, and participate in internal and external quality audits.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
Proven experience in quality engineering within a silicon manufacturing or semiconductor industry.
Strong understanding of quality management principles, statistical analysis, and quality assurance methodologies.
Knowledge of quality standards and regulations applicable to silicon manufacturing processes.
Proficiency in quality management software, statistical analysis tools, and MS Office applications.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with a focus on attention to detail and accuracy.
