Sr. Sputtering Engineer II
Independently designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to direct a project or several small projects with complex features or detailed phases of a large project. Oversees all aspects of the project to ensure completion within the expected parameters and time frame. Communicates results to management via written reports and oral presentations. Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests, and evaluates results.
About the job:
- Lead Engineer for Sputter Coating R&D activities for different product families. Close collaboration within the global Engineering team and with global Operation sites for defining performance requirements. Execute R&D projects to develop desired coatings, including verification within trials and handover validated designs to Operations. Develops and adapts existing processes for optimum performance and reduction of variance. Analyzes data and identifies opportunities for yield or general improvements. Assists trouble-shoot and resolving implementation for any problems with sputter coatings and related processes. Develop new process capabilities or introduce new materials as required within development projects.
- Execution and technical ownership of R&D projects for developing sputter coatings. Understanding of end-product requirements and how translate into characteristics of the sputter coatings by materials, coating design, microstructure, or processes used. Verification, documentation, and close collaboration within the product development team (50%)
- Identifying and verifying new materials and processes for enabling next-generation coatings (20%)
- Support process improvements and failure analysis to successfully meet the requirements of existing design. (10%)
About you:
- Master´s degree or PhD in Physics, Material Science, or related.
- A solid and proven background in Materials and Thin Film Technology is a must.
- Proven track record of a minimum of Five years of experience in R&D for Thin Films/Sputter Coating in Industry or Academy
- Hands-on working experience and in-depth understanding with/of Sputtering and Vacuum Technology is required
- Knowledge and experience of other coating technologies is a plus (Thermal Spray, Plating)
- Curious to solve problems and ability to work systematically toward a goal
- High attention to detail
- Able to collaborate on a global level
