About the role

We are extremely excited to announce that we are inviting applications for a Specialist – IT Operations role to be based in our Manila office with a hybrid working setup.ā€ÆĀ 

This Specialist – IT Operations is going to be responsible for the governance of IT applications within a defined scope, translating business requirements into solution designs, and facilitating the delivery and support of solutions.Ā

What you will be doing

Participate from Projects through to SupportĀ 

  • Involvement as a team member in the full application lifecycle of larger projects; including scoping and definition, estimation, design, configuration / development, testing, go-live and support.Ā 
  • Full self-managed responsibility to deliver approved small-scale enhancements.Ā 
  • Full self-managed responsibility to deliver support activities within the area of responsibility.
  • Plan, track, monitor and report on application delivery activities – including schedule, scope, quality, risks, issues, dependencies, and benefits within the area of responsibility. Ā 

Solution Design & System DevelopmentĀ 

  • Define, configure and/or code high-quality application solutions that meet business needs; whilst being secure, maintainable, and cost efficient.Ā 
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation for all aspects of application design, development, and implementation, including scoping, requirements, solution designs, test cases and user documentation.Ā 
  • Coordinate and facilitate test planning and test execution. Ā 

IT DesignĀ 

  • Propose solution designs within area of responsibility, aligned with Oricaā€™s business requirements.Ā 
  • Ensure that all functional and technical production changes to systems within area of responsibility adhere to quality requirements and architectural guidelines. Ā 

IT GovernanceĀ 

  • Follow IT principles, guidelines, and processes.Ā 
  • Ensure security and licensing requirements are met within the area of responsibility.Ā 
  • Provide input to the Asset specialist to ensure an accurate Software asset inventory and procurement on licensing numbers.Ā 
  • Drive consolidation and simplification of the Orica application landscape Ā 

Release & Lifecycle Management Ā Ā 

  • Plan and deliver regular packaged-product patches, releases and upgrades within area of responsibility (i.e. software lifecycle management)Ā 
  • Coordinate and perform impact assessments on proposed changes.Ā 
  • Coordinate and assist with change management activities.Ā 
  • Provide appropriate communication to impacted business users; before, during and after a change implementation.Ā 

Application Support Ā 

  • Acquire and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the functionality and business processes of Oricaā€™s applications
  • within area of responsibility.Ā 
  • Provide Level 2 operational support to users in a timely and effective manner, to maximise the effectiveness of business applications.Ā 
  • Trouble-shoot and resolve application issues and incidents, including advice or training to users, devising, and applying corrections (permanent or temporary) for faults.Ā 
  • Ensure issues and status updates are accurately communicated to business users and IT management.Ā 
  • Perform root cause analysis and business impact validation for issues and incidents. Ā 
  • Perform proactive application maintenance activities – including monitoring and alerting. Ā 

Stakeholder Engagement Ā 

  • Engagement with key business stakeholders, General Process & Data Owners (GPDOs) and IT Business
  • Engagement team; specially to understand requirements and to design solutions.Ā 
  • Engagement with IT Leads and Engineers to ensure technical alignment across functional areas.Ā 
  • Collaborate with all IT teams to deliver and support solutions. Ā 

What you will bring

  • English language (oral and written) to an advanced proficiency, as the global business language of OricaĀ 
    Tertiary qualification in an IT-related disciplineĀ 
  • 2-5 yearsā€™ of experience in an IT role; with demonstrated success at designing and supporting applications that solve business problemsĀ 
  • Exposure to manufacturing, mining, utilities, or related industriesĀ 
  • Strong customer engagement and relationship building skills Ā 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to communicate to both technical and lay audiences Ā 
  • Ability to work independently, or as part of a project / team Ā 
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex business requirements and effectively translate these into applications solutionsĀ 
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and problem remediation skills Ā
