EHS Safety Officer

JOB DESCRIPTION

Safety Program Management:

• Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs and policies in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS) set by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of the workplace to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with management and employees to promote a culture of safety and raise awareness of best practices.

Risk Assessment and Hazard Control:

• Conduct risk assessments to identify and evaluate workplace hazards, including physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic risks.
• Recommend and implement control measures to mitigate identified hazards and minimize the risk of accidents and occupational illnesses.
• Monitor and review incident reports to identify trends and proactively address safety concerns.

Training and Education:

• Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, focusing on topics such as emergency response, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and safe work practices.
• Ensure that all employees receive appropriate safety induction and ongoing training relevant to their roles.
• Promote safety awareness and provide guidance on compliance with safety regulations and standards. 

Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with OSHS regulations, including the timely submission of required reports and documentation to regulatory authorities.
• Keep abreast of updates to occupational health and safety laws and standards and communicate changes to relevant stakeholders within the organization.

Emergency Response and Incident Investigation:

• Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures for various workplace scenarios, including fire, chemical spills, and medical emergencies.
• Lead or participate in incident investigations to identify root causes, develop corrective actions, and prevent recurrence of workplace incidents.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Safety Officer accreditation from the DOLE is required.
• In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and standards in the Philippines.
• Proven experience in implementing safety programs and conducting risk assessments within a workplace setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence employees at all levels of the organization.
• Certification in First Aid, Basic Life Support (BLS), or Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is a plus.
